StudyMaster for tutors — the one-page guide

1. Signing in

Go to /sign-in with the email address your academy invited and your password. You land on Tutor: one card per class you teach. Students never use this page — they have their own sign-in (below).

2. Classes and students

Open a class to see what to teach next, who has not practised in a week, the most-missed skills and a heat map of students × topics. Open a student to see every answer they gave, with the question text. Your academy administrator adds students to classes; ask them if someone is missing.

Adding a student yourself. A student whose parent is not on the platform yet can still practise from day one: class page → Students and PIN slips → Add a student to this class (first name, year, optional course). You get a slip with their username and a random PIN, shown once — print it or write it down before you leave the page, then hand it to the student. Lost PIN? Press Reset PIN next to their name for a fresh slip. Students added this way carry a roster badge; when the academy invites the parent later, the student keeps the same login, classes and progress.

3. Learn pages in a lesson

Every approved skill has a Learn page: the theory in short sections, the formulas with when to use them, and worked examples. Students open it from the 📖 Learn link next to a skill on their home page. Put it on the screen while you teach, then send them to practise. Learn pages are paced (a reader's speed, not a crawler's), so a student who opens dozens in a few minutes is asked to take a break.

4. Practise mode

Practise this skill gives one question at a time, chosen near a 70% success rate for that student. They get one hint at a time, a second try, and a worked solution after the attempt closes. Levels rise on evidence and never drop for a wrong answer. "Practise now" on a course mixes due reviews with the next thing to learn — good homework.

5. Setting a quiz

Class page → Set a quiz: pick 1–12 skills, how many questions and how hard (matched, easier, harder or mixed), tick the students it goes to, an optional due date. Save it as a template to reuse. Students take it in quiz mode (no hints, one try); results appear on the class page as they finish, with a class average, and each student gets every question's outcome, the answer and the worked solution plus "practise what you missed" links. Parents get an email when a quiz is set and the day before it is due.

6. Worksheets and booklets

From a quiz: worksheet, answers and worked solutions as separate print views (Print → Save as PDF). The worksheet carries no answers. Booklets build a whole topic pack: a cover, each skill's theory and examples, then questions with answers and solutions as separate parts, rendered as a real A4 PDF. Every page is watermarked with the academy, your email and a paper id, and every download is logged.

7. Progress

The class heat map and the student page show levels per skill (Not started → Getting started → Practising → Proficient → Mastered), this week's questions and accuracy, and the reason for every level change. Parents see the same numbers for their own children.

8. When a student is paused

The platform pauses an account for 15 minutes (or 24 hours after repeated unusual activity) when it looks like a crawler, a shared login or a machine — many Learn pages without practice, solutions revealed without attempts, impossibly fast answers. The student sees a calm "take a break" card. If they were working normally in class, open the student from your class page and press Lift the pause; a parent can do the same from home.

9. What not to do

• Do not share a student's PIN, sign in as a student, or let students share logins — every account is watermarked and a shared one gets paused.
• Do not download booklets or worksheets for use outside the academy's lessons. They are watermarked with your name and logged per download.
• Do not copy theory or solutions into other documents or chats — the text carries an invisible account code.
• Do not set students up yourself; families are created by the academy administrator or by join code.
